Mushweu Rudzani is an accomplished public-sector executive with extensive experience in financial management, governance, and strategic leadership. Born in Nzhelele, Limpopo, on 13 October 1978, he holds a BCom in Cost and Management Accounting from the University of Venda (2003) and a BCom Honours in Business Management from the University of South Africa (2012). Driven by a passion for continuous learning and professional growth, he further completed a Master of Business Administration (MBA) at MANCOSA in 2016.
Mr. Mushweu began his career in 2004 as a Financial Management Intern at the Vhembe District Municipality. His strong work ethic and leadership potential soon earned him an appointment as Assistant Director at the South African Social Security Agency (SASSA). He later served as a Manager at the Department of Public Works, gaining extensive experience in public administration and operational oversight.
In 2012, he was appointed Director: Financial Management at the Limpopo Provincial Treasury, a role that deepened his expertise in governance, compliance, budgeting, and high-level decision-making. His career trajectory continued upward, and he currently serves as General Manager at City Power Johannesburg. In this role, he is entrusted with strategic management responsibilities and active engagement with governance structures including boards and audit committees.
His leadership journey began early during his university years. At the University of Venda, he served students with distinction—elected Chairperson of the School of Management Sciences (2001), Treasurer-General of the SRC (2002), and President of the SRC (2003). He also served on both the University Senate and Council, gaining early exposure to governance and higher education transformation. In 2019, he was further elected Deputy President of the Convocation of the University of Venda, solidifying his longstanding commitment to the institution and its alumni community.
Beyond his professional commitments, Mr. Mushweu remains deeply invested in community development. He is the founder of Denzhe Youth Focus, an NGO dedicated to youth empowerment and capacity-building initiatives.
Through diverse leadership roles, academic advancement, and community involvement, Mushweu Rudzani has developed strong capabilities in governance, financial management, administration, and strategic general management. He continues to contribute meaningfully to institutional effectiveness, youth development, and broader societal progress.

The Council is the highest structure of governance of the University. It draws its membership from different stakeholders that are both internal and external to the institution. Internal stakeholders include the Senate, the Academic Staff, the Administrative Staff, the Service Staff and the Student Representative Assembly. In identifying external stakeholders, care is taken to strike a balance between expertise, professionalism and representatively.
