Ms Mncube Sympathy Luyanda is a Junior Lecturer in the Department of Professional and Curriculum Studies. With a strong foundation in ICT and Education, Ms Mncube is passionate about equipping students with essential technical skills crucial for academic and professional success.
Ms Mncube combines theoretical knowledge with practical experience. She specialises in teaching fundamental computer skills, digital literacy, and the ethical use of technology, ensuring that students learn how to use various software tools and understand the implications of their digital footprints.

Dr. Israel Creleanor Mulaudzi, a distinguished South African educational professional, has contributed to the field of education for over 29 years. Born on August 22, 1971. Dr. Mulaudzi has earned multiple qualifications, including a Doctor of Education (DED) in Educational Psychology-University of Zululand, Master of Education in Educational Management (MEDEM)-the University of Venda, Master of Arts MA) in English Language- University of Zululand, Bachelor of Education in Education, Training and Development (BeD Hon)-Rand Afrikaanse Universiteit, Bachelor of Arts Honours in English ( BA Hon)- University of Venda, Bachelor of Arts (BA)- University of Venda, Further Diploma in Remedial Education – Rand Afrikaanse Universiteit and Primary Teachers Diploma-Westminister College of Education.. Qualifications in English Language, Remedial Education, and Theology further enrich her academic background.
Dr. Mulaudzi has held various influential roles in educational institutions, notably as a Lecturer at the University of Venda since 2023, where she also serves as a Coordinator for the Bachelor of Education Intermediate Phase. Her previous experience includes a principalship at Lurenzheni Primary School, where she led initiatives to improve school culture and outcomes.
A prolific researcher, Dr. Mulaudzi has authored studies addressing critical issues in education, such as the effects of teacher stress on learner performance and the challenges faced by rural teachers in South Africa. Her recent publications, which appear in respected journals like the Journal of Education and Human Development, reflect her commitment to exploring the dynamics of academic performance, reading challenges, and teacher stress in rural contexts.
Dr. Mulaudzi’s dedication extends beyond academia into community engagement. She actively participates in local initiatives, including co-founding the “Nurse the Girl in You” program, Judaroeis fun walk events, serving as a speaker for Phalaphala FM’s educational broadcasts, National and international Beauty pageants title holder, 42 KM Old mutual marathon runner and the best program Director at the University of Venda women celebration. Recognized for her excellence in teaching and engagement, Dr. Mulaudzi has received accolades such as the Excellence in Teachers Award from Vhembe District and a provincial award in reading promotion.

Dr ‘Mamotena Mpeta is a senior lecturer and HOD of the Department of Professional and Curriculum Studies. With a specialisation in science education, she teaches Life Sciences (Biology) methodologies in the initial teacher education programmes, Biodiversity and Evolution as well as Philosophy, History and Nature of Science in the Bachelor of Education Honours programmes. She has been supervising postgraduate research at Honours, Masters and Doctorate levels. As a coordinator of teaching practice in the past, her work has included training of mentors in schools. She has been actively involved in recurriculation of undergraduate and postgraduate programmes in the School of Education, particularly in science education specialisations for secondary education and in curriculum studies. Her research interests include science education, teacher education, curriculum implementation and the recent addition of social justice in education.

Dr Shumani Leonard Tshikota
Dr Shumani Leonard Tshikota is a Senior Lecturer in the Department of Professional and Curriculum Studies. He has worked for over 18 years in the higher education sector. He specialises in languages in education. He has supervised Honours, Masters and PhD students. Dr Tshikota is the current Teaching Practice Coordinator in the School of Education, Chairperson of a WIL and Teaching Practice committee in the Faculty of Humanities, Social Sciences and Education at the University of Venda.
