During this Women’s month, Ronewa’s story is one of resilience, passion, and determination. She reminds us that with courage and the right support, young women can rise above challenges and shape the future, at one voice, one word at a time.

Despite her young age, Ronewa has already achieved remarkable milestones that reflect her resilience and determination. She has embraced academic life under the Disability Student Unit with courage, excelling in her studies while pursuing her passion for language and culture.
Her decision to follow a career path in translation and teaching stems from this love, positioning her as an aspiring change-maker in the field of communication. Beyond the classroom, Ronewa has discovered a strong interest in politics, where she continues to challenge stereotypes and affirm the capability of women to lead and excel. She also uses her voice to advocate for women’s empowerment, particularly during Women’s Month, by engaging in community events, celebrating women’s achievements, and amplifying their stories through social media. These achievements, rooted in passion and purpose, highlight her as a young woman steadily shaping her path toward leadership and influence.
At just 19 years old, Ronewa Maginya, affectionately known by many simply as Maginya, is carving out her space as a determined and passionate young woman from Ngovhela Ha Madamalala. She is a registered student doing her BA in Language Practice at the University of Venda, and she describes herself in three words: resilient, ambitious, and passionate.
Her love for language is the driving force behind her chosen field of study. With a deep appre-ciation for communication, culture, and expression, Ronewa has set her sights on careers in translation and language teaching. “I chose this programme because of the love I have for lan-guage, the passion of learning and mastering it, and the cultural interest it carries,” she says with conviction.
University life has already proven to be a transformative journey for her. From learning to man-age finances and academic pressures with independence to discovering a newfound passion for politics, Ronewa has embraced challenges as stepping stones toward growth. “Finding out that I love politics made me realise that women are capable, and that what men can do, women can do best,” she reflects.
She credits the University of Venda community for walking alongside her during this journey. Through academic guidance, emotional support, and valuable networking opportunities, Rone-wa has felt empowered and equipped to face challenges with courage and determination.
Looking ahead at this, Ronewa’s aspirations are both ambitious and inspiring. She envisions career advancement in her chosen profession while continuing to develop personally, build-ing confidence, and exploring her passions. With access to mentorship, academic resources, and professional networks at the university, she believes she is well on her way to fulfilling her dreams.
Ronewa’s story is one of resilience and determination. She is a reminder that with courage and the right support, young women can rise above challenges and shape the future with their own voices and one word at a time.
